Pasquale di Paoli, also known as father of Corsica (The “Babbu di a Patria”) implemented in 1755 the first constitution that make Corsica the first democratic republic of the modern age.

As you can guess that make his life a great story to tell and remember. If you want more details, there is a very well written wikipedia article about him and of course those 3 great graphic novels.

Pascal Paoli saga is written by the historian Frédéric Bertocchini, drawings by by Eric Rückstühl, colors by Bruno Pradelle.

Their attention to details is stunning. I am not particulary fan of those kind of historical stories but I have to admit this one changed my point of view.

If the only Corsican figure you know is Napoléon Bonaparte, it’s worth revisiting your history and learn about Pascal Paoli.

The 3 books are written in French. There is a Corsican version but no English translation yet.
